For the Cheese Filling:
- 1 lb farmer’s cheese
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 packet vanilla pudding mix
- 1/4 cup milk
- Few drops of vanilla extract
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
- Activate Yeast: Dissolve the fresh yeast with a bit of warm milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit until bubbly, about 5-10 minutes.
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast mixture, salt, sugar, eggs, egg yolk, and remaining warm milk. Mix until a dough forms, then add the melted butter and knead until smooth.
- Let Rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Prepare the Filling:
- Mix Cheese: In a bowl, combine the farmer’s cheese, egg yolks, powdered sugar, pudding mix, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Assemble the Babka:
- Prepare Pan: Grease a 10×15-inch baking pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Spread Dough: Roll out the risen dough and place it in the prepared pan.
- Add Filling: Spread the cheese filling evenly over the dough.
Prepare the Crumble:
- Make Crumble: In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, and butter. Mix until crumbly.
- Top Babka: Sprinkle the crumble over the cheese filling.
Bake:
- Bake Babka: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake the babka for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
