    Cheesesteak on Garlic Parmesan Bread

    Description

    This recipe offers a savory twist on the classic cheesesteak. Tender, thinly sliced ribeye steak (or ground beef as an alternative) is sautéed with onions and bell peppers, then layered with melted provolone cheese. The filling is served on artisan bread (like sourdough or ciabatta) that’s been enhanced with a garlic, Parmesan, and herb butter, giving it a crispy, flavorful finish.


    Ingredients

    For the Bread:

    • 1 loaf of artisan bread (sourdough or ciabatta)

    • 3 tablespoons softened butter

    • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

    • 2 garlic cloves, minced

    • 1 teaspoon parsley (optional)

     

     

    For the Cheesesteak Filling:

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

    • 1 lb (450g) thinly sliced ribeye steak or ground beef

    • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

    • 1 green or yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced

    • 4 slices provolone cheese (or your preferred cheese)

    • Salt and pepper, to taste

    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)


    Instructions

    Prepare the Garlic Parmesan Bread:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, grated Parmesan, and parsley.

    • Slice the loaf horizontally and generously spread the garlic butter mixture on both halves.

    • Toast the bread in the oven for about 5–7 minutes until it’s golden and crispy. Set aside.

    2. Cook the Cheesesteak Filling:

    • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add the thinly sliced steak (or ground beef) and season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until the meat is browned.

    • Push the meat to one side of the skillet and add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the other side. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.

    • Combine the meat with the vegetables, then top the mixture with slices of provolone cheese. Cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

    3. Assemble the Sandwich:

    • Spread the cheesy steak mixture evenly over the bottom half of the toasted garlic Parmesan bread.

    • If desired, add extra toppings such as banana peppers or a dash of hot sauce for added flavor.

    • Place the top half of the bread over the filling and press lightly to secure.

    4. Serve:

    • Slice the sandwich into portions and serve warm. This dish pairs well with crispy fries, a fresh salad, or your favorite dipping sauce.


    Notes

    You can substitute ground beef for ribeye steak if you prefer.

    • Adjust seasonings to your taste, and feel free to experiment with extra toppings to enhance the flavor.
